An orchid fairytale forest at Mobach Ceramics

On November 7th and 8th, Mobach Ceramics in Utrecht is hosting open houses. Especially for this occasion, floral designers Florian Seyd and Ueli Signer of The Wunderkammer and their team have completely transformed the Mobach showroom into a wonderful fairytale forest. They masterfully incorporated a wide variety of orchids into unique, handmade ceramic designer vases. You are very welcome to visit Mobach, Kanaalweg 24 in Utrecht, to admire Mobach’s stunning ceramics combined with nature’s jewels: the orchid.

Orchids: juwels of nature

Floral designer Florian Seyd is a great orchid enthusiast. “The Oncidium Cherry Baby orchid is a fantastic orchid. Not only because it’s incredibly beautiful, but it also has an incredibly delicious vanilla scent. So, the fun of orchids isn’t just about the beautiful flowers, but if you zoom in on the different orchid varieties, you’ll discover different scents, textures, and tall and short varieties. And with this form, you’ll enjoy the color and the fragrance.”

Dutch Design Week: orchids X APTUM

From October 18th to 26th, orchid growers and lighting design studio Aptum will present the exhibition “In Full Bloom” during Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven. Aptum, known for its unique and custom lighting designs, transformed its studio into a blooming orchid-filled environment especially for this event. The result is a colorful botanical indoor garden surrounded by geometrically shaped lighting fixtures. This collaborative creation was unveiled for the first time during Dutch Design Week.

Floral Exhibition “In Full Bloom”

As a source of inspiration for many designers, orchids are the perfect complement to the world of design. For years, the plants have been part of Masterly – the showcase for Dutch design during Milan Design Week. At this event, Aptum and Orchids Info discovered their shared passion for vibrant, bright colors and expressive patterns and shapes. This mutual fascination led to a natural cross-pollination, resulting in a floral exhibition “In Full Bloom” during Dutch Design Week for the second year in a row.

Blooming Courtyard

The result was a colorful and flourishing courtyard that followed the architectural lines of Aptum’s monumental building. Hundreds of unique flowers in a rich palette of colors bathed in the daylight filtering through the large skylight above the garden. The orchids were surrounded by geometrically shaped light objects, inviting visitors to pause for a moment and experience the beauty of nature and design.

‘In Full Bloom’ can be seen during Dutch Design Week until October 26, 2025, at location No. G9, APTUM | NRE, Gashouder 13, 5613 CR Eindhoven. More information is available at www.ddw.nl.

Dutch Design Week: orchids X APTUM

From 19 to 27 October, Orchids Info and APTUM will present the exhibition ‘In Full Bloom’ during Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven. APTUM, known for their unique and custom-made lighting designs, has created artworks highlighting the versatility of orchids especially for this event. This collaboration, born from a shared fascination with vibrant colours and expressive shapes, results in an enchanting floral wall and sculptural light objects. The exhibition is on display at APTUM’s studio, Gashouder 13.

Shared passion for patterns and shapes

Orchids Info and Aptum met at Salone del Mobile in Milan, Masterly, where they discovered a shared passion for vibrant, bright colours and expressive patterns and shapes. What they both admired in their own fields, they also recognised in the other’s. This mutual fascination led to a natural cross-pollination, in which flora and light merge in a special way. The result is an impressive floral wall full of illuminated geometric shapes and sculptural light objects carrying orchids. During Dutch Design Week, this joint creation will be unveiled for the first time.

Orchids Info and Aptum present: ‘In Full Bloom’

‘In Full Bloom’ highlights the versatility of orchids – one of the largest and most diverse plant families in the world. They continue to bloom elegantly for weeks, year after year, bringing a constant source of inspiration. Aptum deliberately seeks to collaborate with creatives from other disciplines with the APTUM X collection. Together, they experiment with all forms of creativity, creating a unique exhibition during Dutch Design Week. They inspire each other to go far beyond the boundaries of their own working area. This year, Aptum combines flowers and sound with lighting together with Orchids Info and Studio Vocum. All designs of the APTUM X collection will be on display during Dutch Design Week.

‘In Full Bloom’ can be seen during Dutch Design Week from 19 to 27 October, location Map No. G9, APTUM | NRE, Gashouder 13, 5613 CR Eindhoven, The Netherlands. More information can be found at www.ddw.nl.

Style ideas for a blooming orchid Christmas table

Decorating your Christmas table with flowering plants like orchids can add a festive and natural touch to your Christmas decorations. Here are some ideas to incorporate orchids into your table decorations to steal the show at Christmas dinner this year. Read on and get inspired for orchid style ideas for a blooming Christmas table.

A dining table full of colour

The dining table is a place where you gather with loved ones. A place that, especially during the holidays, deserves extra attention and decoration! And what better way to do that than with orchids in warm, cheerful colours? For example, create smaller groups by dividing the plants into different bowls and sorting them by color. This creates a nice distribution across the table, while still allowing you to see each other.

Napkin Ring

If you don’t have much space on the table but still want to decorate it with orchids, consider a small orchid sprig in a napkin ring. It instantly creates a cheerful look and adds a festive and colorful touch to your Christmas table.

Don’t have that much space on the table? Then you can also choose to put a beautiful piece next to the table. For example, in the windowsill, on a pillar or on a stool. This way you still have a beautiful decoration, but you can still easily see each other. And it leaves enough room for the food!

Beauty that lasts

Orchids bloom for weeks, often for months. So, after the holidays, the orchids can just move to another spot. Or what about the spot where the Christmas tree was? That way you immediately have a nice filler for that empty post-Christmas spot.
